It is a fast and lightweight Scintilla-based text editor with syntax highlighting, which can be found in Notepad3. Compared to the default Windows text editor, Notepad3 is a far superior alternative. The fact that Windows Notepad is lightweight and fast does not make it a bad tool; however, programmers and other power text file users will all agree that it has a number of significant limitations.

Notepad3 has a plethora of additional features over its predecessors, Notepad and Notepad2. Despite the fact that it has a small memory footprint, it is powerful enough to handle the majority of programming tasks.

ASP, assembly language, C, C++, C#, Common Gateway Interface (CGI), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), HTML, Java, JavaScript, NSIS, Pascal, Perl, PHP, Python, SQL, Visual Basic (VB), VBScript, XHTML, XML, BAT files, DIFF files, INF files (includes a REG file), INI (includes a REG file), and configuration files are all supported.
